Yes, folks, Gene Autry Days right here in Kenton, Ohio (where the hell is that??) so I'm thinking Kenton must be where he was born,right? wrong. Must be where he died? wrong....did something special? there you go - check this out:

Seems ol Gene was quite a man - seems he and his pistol single handedly saved that town of Kenton in 1937: "Kenton declared August 8, 1938, “Gene Autry Day” and celebrated with a rodeo, track and field events, and a softball game. Best of all, however, was the personal appearance by Gene Autry and Champion." (from the website above)

More Gene Autry fun facts: He is the only entertainer to have all five stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one each for Radio, Recording, Motion Pictures, Television, and Live Theatre/performance. AND he recorded my all-time favorite Christmas record: Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer (which has sold more than 30 million copies)

Seems you never know the effect one person can have. So Gene Autry, I salute you!
